Shipping up to Boston in Support of First Responders

A group of volunteers fills resource bags at long tables outside

On Thursday, August 22, 2024, SixDegrees.org cultivated a powerful activation of its Building Kits initiative. In just three weeks time, they organized volunteers, procured over $250,000 worth of resources, and organized a meaningful volunteer activation for the build of 3,000 mental health resource kits for distribution to all attendees at the following week’s International Association of Fire Fighters convention and 150 for patients enrolled with the On-Site Academy , a short term, intensive residential treatment center for rescue personnel who may be temporarily overwhelmed by the stress of their job, suffering from work-related cumulative or delayed critical incident stress.

The 3,000 resource kits built during this activation contained 24,000 items of care totaling $246,672 in value. Notably, each recipient received a certificate for a year-long membership to Calm.

SixDegrees.org is grateful to its generous brand partners and sponsors who supported this activation, including Boston law firm Barrault + Associates LLC.

“As a labor firm who proudly works to defend first responders, the fire fighter community is incredibly important to us. We were struck by the amazing work that SixDegrees.org does to make a difference in communities to make the world a more kind and connected place,” said Leah Barrault, principal partner at Barrault + Associates LLC. “When we heard that SixDegrees.org was bringing their efforts to Boston, we jumped at the opportunity to sponsor and get involved! The Barrault + Associates LLC team had an incredible day helping to assemble the 3,000 mental health resource kits that went out to the fire fighters at the IAFF Conference.”
